Dr. Katherine, ahem “Jill,” is the new vet on the block here at Aloha and her passion for her craft is unmatched, as is her love for growing fam (her baby son is named after a Star Wars character, didn’t ya know?). She’s the resident hug giver, the bright spot in everyone’s day, and always has that pep in her step. When not caring for exotics, she’s rubbing the sand between her toes on the ocean or volunteering at some wildlife center. She’s a force to be reckoned with. She grew up with a police dog, so her love of animals started early and apparently so did her ability to handle herself. She’s a black belt in martial arts, was born tongue-tied (which feels like a pretty ironic plot twist), and has a serious appreciation for the ocean and a good piece of salmon. But beneath the tough-girl credentials is one undeniable weakness: candy. She also loves skydiving, and riding her motorcycle off into the sunset when she has the time. Her ultimate dream is to own a Lamborghini, the only thing standing in her way is 30 years worth of student loans. The last thing you should know about her is that you will never, AND I MEAN NEVER catch her in New York during the winter time.

Married to a pastor and raising four kiddos who keep her on her toes, Melissa has found the perfect balance between career, family, and a dash of outdoor adventure. Fun fact: She was once a naturalist at Kiawah Island, guiding nature tours, but now her biggest adventures might just be keeping up with her dogs, kids, and all that studying.

She digs the exotic animals—if you hadn’t heard of them, she probably has–and gives her goodest boys Tanner and Gunner a run for their money when they go out hiking in the Great Outdoors. They are quite the trio, if you were to ever see them out and about. Speaking of threes, Linda has 3 kids and is the oldest of 3 siblings. She’s always at the ready, always on her manicured toes, and is here to make your vet visit feel like a hotel stay, complete with a chocolate on the pillow (for the humans only, of course). Shawnee is a surgery tech wiz who is constantly moving with the energy of a chihuahua who just heard someone open a cheese wrapper. If she’s sitting still, you should probably check on her. She firmly believes breakfast is appropriate at literally any hour of the day and if there’s chocolate involved, even better. She also loves cliff diving, despite being extremely afraid of heights, which raises some very important questions about her decision-making skills. When she’s not flying around the surgery suite, Shawnee can be found learning new languages or building log cabins — because apparently “relaxing” was never an option.

Veterinary Assistant. Animal whisperer. Professional misfit collector. And apparently the person you call when your patient has feathers, scales, fur, or an alarming number of legs. Staci has been working in the veterinary field for 20+ years, so at this point, she has pretty much seen it all. Cats, Dogs, Reptiles, Birds, Kangaroos, Monkeys, and random creatures that make everyone else say, “Wait… you’ve treated WHAT?” And for the truly crazy ones? Well… those are what she affectionately refers to as “Buffalo Beals.” When Staci isn’t caring for animals, she’s spending time with her beloved 2014 GT/CS Mustang or getting creative with spray-paint art. Because apparently veterinary medicine, a house full of animals, and a family aren’t enough hobbies. Speaking of family, Staci is married with two daughters and has dedicated her home to providing a loving sanctuary for four-legged misfits. And by “a few,” we mean four dogs and three cats. Her canine crew includes Titan, Cooper, Snoopy, and Basic, while the feline department is proudly represented by Fatty, Mary Jane, and CharLee. At this point, Staci doesn’t really own pets. She operates a small, furry nonprofit organization out of her home. Veterinary assistant, Disney fanatic, Harry Potter enthusiast, and proud owner of what can only be described as a small furry army. Holly loves all things Disney and Harry Potter, and we’re fairly certain she’d be perfectly happy living at Hogwarts, preferably with a room at the castle, a lifetime Disney pass, and several of her pets tagging along. She has more dogs and cats than most people can count on their fingers, which means her house is less of a home and more of a highly organized pet kingdom. She’s the kind of person who will stop everything to help an animal, has a heart big enough for approximately 47 more pets, and probably considers “too many animals” to be a completely made-up concept. In her spare time, Holly enjoys crocheting, and rumor has it she can turn a ball of yarn into practically anything — although there’s a strong possibility that at least half of her creations eventually become toys for her pets.

Katie has been “animal crazy” since childhood, and after 20+ years of absolutely no signs of recovery, we’ve accepted that this is just who she is. She started her veterinary career in 2012 as a kennel assistant and worked her way up to veterinary assistant. Originally from Statesville, Katie now lives in Taylorsville, where she built her own little farm because apparently having a job caring for animals wasn’t enough. Her farm is home to horses, dogs, cats, chickens, quail, a rabbit, fish, and whatever else she accidentally falls in love with next. She also offers laid-back pasture boarding for horses who enjoy a little more of a “homey” experience. Horses have always been her first love. She grew up riding with her family and now gets to share that passion with her husband and two little boys who have already inherited her love of animals and her apparent inability to sit still. Katie is also a self-proclaimed sucker for an animal in need, which explains her collection of herding dogs: River, Willow, and Tilly, her young Border Collie who she has very high hopes for. We’ll see how long those hopes survive the Border Collie energy. When she gets approximately seven minutes of free time, Katie enjoys riding her mare, Star, spending time on the farm, eating steak, Japanese food, or seafood, and dreaming about traveling the world. Luckily, her mom and mother-in-law help wrangle the boys so Katie can spend a couple days each week doing what she loves. Grandma = MVP.

Small but mighty Catherine is the spring chicken on the Aloha Vet team, being the youngest and the resident member of Gen Z. Need to learn a TikTok dance in a jiffy? She’s your girl. She’s little Miss “Minnie Mouse” because not only is she demure but she’s a tiny thing, a whopping 75 lbs. Don’t let that fool you because this cute-as-button North Carolina native likes to get her swole on at the gym and cheer her little heart out for those she loves—like her high-school sweetheart of a fiance and her Rotties back home. When she’s not treating the creatures of Aloha like her babies, whispering sweet nothings to them, she’s playing with her pet bunny. She’s quick on her toes and can’t go a week without getting a fresh pedi on her toesies which makes total sense. We love this lil pipsqueak and thank our lucky stars she found us. She keeps our whole practice headed in the right direction, day after day, and she chooses to do the same for herself. If you are looking for this dedicated animal lover when she’s not at the clinic, she’s often hitting the trail or taking in feral cats (the more averse to humans, the better).
